The Stories We Tell Ourselves
It’s interesting to take time and reflect on the question, “what are the stories we tell ourselves?"
Yesterday I had a heartfelt coaching session with a dear client of mine and once again I was struck by how much our stories dictate what we think we can accomplish. I could hear so much of my own story in hers. The same fears. The same doubts. The same stuck points.
The thing is, it is a natural to view through the lens of what we have been taught. Our brains are wired to keep us safe and safe means what “feels comfortable.” These stories were at one point in our lives there to help us find love and belonging, but most likely aren’t serving us now and actually are road blocks to where we want to grow and expand.
So my question is…What if we literally practiced and strengthened another part of ourselves? The larger part of ourselves. The part that only wants more. The part that is giant and capable and striving and confident and vibrant. The part that was alive and thriving years before the stories were created.
What if anything was possible? What if YOU are so large and full and radiant nothing could stop you from getting all your dreams? What if you woke most mornings energized and joy-full? What if you believed that YOU COULD live your fullest potential?
THINK IT. SAY IT. FEEL IT. CREATE IT. What if we have to exercise our brains to dismantle those stories every single day, just like we exercise our bodies at the gym? What would our lives look like then?
I believe it is the worthiest experiment you could ever do for yourself.
Much love and strength,
Tara
